Before I could even begin writing, the lyrics of this beautiful song started rambling in my mind which I am sure most of you must have heard.
"Chaand meri zameen, phool mera watan,
Mere kheton ki matti mai lal-e-yaman."
I can go on and on with the endless list of national songs having so much of love and dedication for Pakistan and I am sure most of us feel the same way as I do about my country when I hear any of the national songs.
The question is, being a nation of over 180 million brave, courageous, dedicated and zealous people, why don't we have stories and milestones to highlight infront of the global media and rather show the other side of the picture? This blog would be just a little effort to bring that certain change in the perspectives regarding Pakistan.
Culture is something we all know about and we treasure the fact that Pakistan has been blessed with immense amount of talented people who have managed to keep the culture of Pakistan alive. Anyone who would see the Sindhi embroided clothes and painted clay pots from Multan would fall in love with the uniqueness and beauty of these cultural belongings. No one makes carpets and sports goods like us in this entire world. We have Karakoram, Himalayas, Hindukush up north that no other place has. We have the world's largest Wimax deployment and the most economic cellular phone connections. Kelash is world's smallest tribe yet the biggest attraction for the tourists from all over the world. We have world's smallest man in height who is physically fit, married and is earning his living being. We have world's youngest Sun certified java developers and the students recieving worldwide distinctions in O and A level exams. Our country produces 100 plus kinds of mango that are exported all over the world. We have marble industry , wood industry and carpet weaving industries all over the country. We have one of the largest and the most organized armies of the world. We have world's fastest piano player, Adnan Sami Khan. Qawwali comes from our history which is liked all around the globe. Reshma, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Mehdi Hasan, Ahmed Rushdi, A. Nayyar, Naheed Akhtar, Mala, Noor Jehan, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Ghulam Ali, the list can go endless folks! Our family systems are so strong and so together that West envies us. Our weddings are full of joy with whole bunch of dedication from everyone around us. We celebrate together, we mourn together. World's biggest migration took place when IDPs were being moved from Sawat. This is my Pakistan, my pride. That keeps all of us together. That keeps the enthusiasm in us alive. Its soil keeps reminding us of our great grand parents who saw a dream but could never see it happening. We are living that dream my friends, yet not protecting it from the people who want to tear it apart. Its about time we stand together, yell together, fight together and bring back the serenity and contentment of the dream of our ancestors! Its high time to hold hands and say it out loud. PAKISTAN ZINDABAD!
Goosebumps. Really. Such a splendid post. We all seem to have forgotten our assets and positive side of the picture.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing :)
A great reminder. :)
ReplyDeleteThe bleak side is still there, though.
Appi, you are an amazingly awsome and emotional writer.
ReplyDeleteI like how you gave the positive image of pakistan which is extremely necessary to instill and propagate PAKISTANIAT. People usually focus on the bad side and that results in people losing hope...This is a great effort.
thanks for sharing
Pakistan Zindabad! We all need to emphasize on our positive aspects, stop negativity from growing.and im sure we all are capable of doing so. All we need is courage to stay united!
ReplyDeleteThank you people! :)
ReplyDeleteMy belief lies in the fact that emphasizing and highliting something makes it popular and can even mesmerize people's minds. Yes we do have problems, really really pathetic issues that need to be answered, yet developing a right sense of responsibility would enable us to sort them out. We own this land. Its ours! Nobody can steal it from us. This is what we need to absorb in our hearts in order to help our countrymen!
GOD bless!
