Reborning the Pakistaniyat

YUNH TOU SYED BHI HO, MIRZA BHI HO, AFGHAAN BHI HO
SABHI KUCH HO, YEH BATAO KYA MUSALMAAN BHI HO!

These are the verses from Iqbal's poetry "Jawab-e-Shikwa", which was written almost a century ago. But today, our country is asking the same question again. Yesterday I was talking to a very dear friend of mine about the current situations in Pakistan and he said "hum main sirf firqawariyat bachi hai, insaniyaat nahi. Pakistaniyon sy muhabbat krny ky liay Pakistan sy muhabbat karna zarori hai." The problem starts when we go down to think only about “I” rather than “WE”. We are so busy being a Mahajir, Sindhi, Pathan, Punjabi and a Baluoch, that we have forgotten the “WE ALL ARE PAKISTANI” part.

The human nature is that when one goes away from something or somebody, the love for that thing tends to decrease also. That’s what has happened to our love for Pakistan. We have made nations within the nation, boundaries within a boundary, and we have been so busy finding the difference among us that we have forgotten the some interest we had.

I, being a 21 years old youth, haven’t in my entire 2 decades of life seen a political party running for the elections with the hope ad passion of winning through out the country. It is decided, for some unknown reasons [that are much known to us], that a certain party has to rule over Sindh, where as a certain party can only govern in Punjab. Karachi is a territory of a certain party, who can only rule here, while Baluochistan and KPK will always elect a certain party. Why can’t we all join hands for the betterment of Pakistan, rather than working for the regions.

Making government, especially in a diverse country like Pakistan, is a very tough job. And I am not criticizing the government, as it’s us who make the government. The only people who are responsible and should be blame are us. Let’s not talk about the government, take the little things around us. We, Pakistanis, are very passionate about the cricket. We are huge fans and lovers of the game. But whenever there is the time for selecting national team, we fight with each other on how many players have been selected from which region. Mind you, but whoever is going to be selected will play for Pakistan not for the region he has come from. The country is going from such a huge energy crisis; everybody is suffering from hours of power and gas cut off. Whenever there is a debate on building new dams and power plants, we never end up on a single, unanimous solution. We fight for natural recourses, we fight on quota system, and we even pull legs of each other on things like who’s cooler than whom? I don’t know why we fear that one certain group should not get more than other. Or one should get everything! We have been fallen for the propaganda of some foreign enemies so easily that we can kill each other in the name of BARADARI and QOUMIYAT. But how many of us have the courage to join arm forces, fight and sacrifice our lives for Pakistan.

It’s the time that we pull of the cloak of QOUMIYAT and be united again, as our forefathers had on the time of independence. We are living in the same situation as we have in 1947; only difference is that we need to get independence and freedom from our so called differences and issues. Let’s all reawake ourselves, reborn the PAKISTANIYAT in our souls and be united again.

Pakistan Zindabad, Pakistan Pa’indabad!
